Say Three Nice Things

I’m actually working on a post about pre-birth “matching”. But today is not the day for it. It may be soon.

Today, though, I’m going to say three nice things about myself. Not because I’m so amazing that I think you all ought to know about me, but because I spend a lot of time, as I think many people do, going over and over what is WRONG with me. Doubting myself. Putting myself down. And it’s depressing, because honestly, I do have many flaws and faults, but I’m not that bad. So here goes:

1. I’m compassionate and empathetic. I have the most tender heart, particularly where children and animals and any “underdog” is concerned. I feel things for others very intensely, and I try to understand where other people are coming from. I try to be sensitive and kind even to strangers.

2. I’m funny and I have a good sense of humor. I have a keen sense of the ridiculous, I’m not afraid to be silly, and I love to laugh and make others happy. I will put a blanket over my head and dance down the street to make my son laugh. And I have.

3. I’m a good wife and mother. I love my family and I try to make them happy. I bake cookies. I play games. I try to keep our home inviting. I dispense hugs and kisses with lavish abandon. When I make a mistake, and I make many, I am the first to offer an apology and make up.

Whew. That was actually really hard to do without (many) qualifiers, because my natural wont is to be self-deprecating to a fault.
I suck at “tag” posts, too. But if you’re reading this, consider yourself tagged, and say three nice things about yourself. Either comment here, or pingback to this post on your own blog. Everyone’s welcome. I’m interested to see your responses!

I have good insticts about people. I am impressively nonjudgmental (except for when it comes to THE SHOOMEN). I speak up for the underdog.

    1) I try very hard to think about other people’s perspectives.
    2) I am an excellent grammarian (but not speller, so don’t go expecting things)
    3) I forgive easily.

I consider myself tagged. This is a good thing for me to work on, especially the whole focus on the nice stuff part. Self-deprecation is a consuming issue for me as well.

And I loved reading your three things. As intimated by your other posts and this blog, you are a wonderful person. Someone I’d like to hang out with in the “real” world. :)
